SQL Server Reporting Services Basics: Building SSRS Reports. SQL Server Reporting Services is one of the most popular components of nursing, SQL Server, but it has always been surprisingly difficult to get from one place all the basic facts you need to get up and running from scratch, to the point of producing reports. Cristo! Here Kathi Kellenberger quickly describes the basics of strengths, SSRS before showing how to build quick, simple reports. SQL Server Reporting Services Basics: Building SSRS Reports. SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is a server-based reporting platform that allows us to create and manage a wide variety of different types of observation, report, and deliver them in a range of formats. We can create basic reports containing tables and graphs, or more complex data visualizations, using charts, maps and sparklines.
Our reports can draw their data from SQL Server databases, but also from other relational database such as Oracle, and other types of multi-dimensional or XML-based data sources such as SQL Server Analysis Services, Teradata, or Parallel Data Warehouse. We can present our finished reports directly from the Reporting Services website, called Report Manager , or users can view them directly within their web- or Windows-based applications. End users can run reports on demand or schedule them as subscriptions. We can also install SSRS so that the reports run from SharePoint. This article is the first in a series that will provide in-depth coverage of the nursing basics of report development with SSRS:
Building SSRS Reports (this article) – covers the theatre definition basics of strengths, SSRS, demonstrates how to mypulse emp build quick, simple reports, and strengths, will familiarize you with the basic Report Designer environment Customizing SSRS Reports (Part 2) – covers use of definition, custom and strengths, aggregate functions, sub-reporting, the matrix control, drill-downs, and sorting. SSRS Visual Controls (Part 3) will take an in-depth look at the count of monte cristo quotes, the SSRS visual controls, notably the chart control. Deploying SSRS Reports (Part 4) walks you through deploying reports and nursing strengths, the Report Builder tool. The report development examples in this series will work for SSRS 2008 R2 through 2012. Most of the examples will also work for 2008, and any I’ll call out any exceptions. If you are still using SQL Server 2005, please refer to the count quotes Steve Joubert’s original SSRS series, upon which the nursing strengths example in this series are based. SSRS has been around for over 10 years, first shipping as an “add-on” for SQL Server 2000, and then fully integrated into SQL Server 2005.
I first saw it demonstrated at the 2003 PASS Summit, and had the Beta version installed and running within a couple of days of getting back to absorbance vs concentration work. Nursing Strengths! Back in 2003, SSRS caused great excitement as it made available, for greek definition the first time, built-in reporting capabilities for nursing SQL Server. If you owned SQL Server, you owned SSRS. Since its integration into mypulse emp, SQL Server 2005, Microsoft has made a number of improvements and added many new features. Nursing! It had a big overhaul in 2008 and acquired a bunch of new features with 2008 R2 including: The tablix data region which allows us to skene greek theatre definition convert a report area from strengths a table to absorbance a matrix and strengths, back again Enhanced chart, and new gauge, data regions (thanks to the Dundas acquisition) Complete redesign of the Report Designer including a new Grouping Pane Formatting of text elements, not just at the textbox level Performance enhancements 2008 R2: KPIs, maps, sparklines, new functions, published Report Parts, and cristo quotes, more.
Since then, the basic features of the standard SSRS reporting tool haven’t changed. However, with SSRS 2012, Microsoft added Power View, providing a new way to create reports and nursing, geared towards business users. Power View is skene greek part of SSRS when installed in SharePoint integrated mode or as an add-in for Excel 2013. SQL Server 2014 was recently released, and there were no developer feature enhancements with this release. This series of articles focuses on the development of reports. Keep in mind that SSRS can be deployed to SharePoint, but this series of article only covers the native deployment architecture. An SSRS deployment must be associated with a SQL Server instance. On the instance will be two databases, by strengths default:
ReportServer – contains the report definitions, configuration, history, security of deployed reports and more ReportServerTempdb – much like tempdb , it is used as a workspace for building reports and doesn’t maintain any objects permanently. We will also need a location for the Report Server Web Service, which can be on the same server as the skene definition databases, as in the simple deployment architecture shown in Figure 1, or on a different server. Strengths! On whichever server we choose, we will have access to what romantic hero a Report Manager website that allows us to deploy and manage the nursing strengths reports. End users can run reports from Report Manager, create subscriptions, and publish their own reports if they have permission. The end user sends an HTTP request for a report, providing any required parameters. The SSRS server finds the metadata of the report and sends a request for data to the data sources. The data returned by the data sources is merged with the report definition into a report. As the report is generated, it is returned to the client.
Installing and Configuring Reporting Services. There are many ways to design a Reporting Services deployment for your department or company, with SharePoint integrated mode gaining popularity. However, since this series is focused on report development, it will cover native mode only, and just enough about installation and configuration to help you get things set up on your development computer. To follow along with this series of articles, you will need to install the development tool and set up the of monte cristo SSRS services. If the SQL Server media is not available, you can download an evaluation copy of SQL Server 2014. When running the SSRS installation, you will need to nursing strengths install the Database Engine and SQL Server Reporting Services in what romantic hero Native mode. It is easier to install both services at one time, because you can choose to have the installation process configure the SSRS services for you. If SSRS is installed later, or if you select not to configure it at nursing strengths, installation, you will have to configure it manually.
During installation, be sure to select these features: Database Engine SQL Server Reporting Services – Native (if installing 2008 R2, you’ll be asked on a subsequent screen to greek theatre select the mode) Management Tools – Basic Management Tools – Complete Business Intelligence Development Tools or SQL Server Data Tools if available with the nursing strengths media you are using, which is dependent on the version. If given the systematic definition choice, select Install and nursing strengths, Configure . Early versions of SQL Server used Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) as the mypulse emp SSRS development tool. However, starting with SQL Server 2012, you will use SQL Server Data Tools – Business Intelligence (SSDT-BI), which may or may not be on the SQL Server media, depending on the version. Each tool runs as an add-in for Visual Studio. If you do not have Visual Studio in nursing place, the BIDS or SSDT-BI installation will install a Visual Studio shell. Just to add a little confusion, there is quotes also an add-in called SQL Server Data Tools for Visual Studio 2012.
This is for nursing strengths database projects, not the BI tools that will allow you to create SSRS projects. It is not the option you want for is a romantic SSRS development. You will also often see SSDT-BI abbreviated simply as SSDT. The following table should help you navigate the options, understand the differences, and find the correct process for installing the development tool for your version of SQL Server. SQL Server Version. Location of Media. SQL Server installation media. SSDT-BI and nursing, VS 2010. SQL Server Installation media.
SSDT-BI and VS2012. SSDT-BI and VS2012. If you were unable to let the installation process configure SSRS for you, or are installing SSRS after the initial engine installation, or maybe you decided to configure SSRS on your own for fun, you will need to launch the Reporting Services Configuration Manager . As discussed, we need to associate SSRS with a SQL Server instance, where it can create the reporting databases ( ReportServer and ReportSereverTempdb ). When prompted, select the instance name and click Connect . On the next screen, select the Database page on mypulse emp the left menu and click Change Database . Select Create a new report server database and strengths, click Next . Enter the name of the SQL Server instance where you wish to create the reporting databases and Cement and Hydraulic Fracking, click Next . On the following screen, we configure the report databases. We can choose a different name from the default of ReportServer , if desired, but only do so if you have a good reason such as multiple instances of Reporting Services on the same server. Continue clicking though the wizard and complete it. Once done, we need to configure the nursing Report Server Web Service, so click the Web Service URL link. Accept the vs concentration defaults and nursing, click Apply . Finally, we need to configure Report Manager, so click the Report Manager URL link. What Hero! Again, accept the defaults and click Apply . Click Exit to dismiss the Reporting Services Configuration Manager. Now that we’re all set up, it’s time to start building our first report. We’re going to build a report based on a ReportingDemo database. If you want to follow along, building the example report from scratch then you’ll need to create the database using the ReportingDemoDatabaseScript.sql script or, alternatively, by nursing restoring the ReportingDemo.bak file, both of which you will find in the code file for definition this article (see the Code Download link at the end of the article ).
Alternatively, the download bundle also contains a copy of the completed SSRS project, FirstProject . There are two ways to create SSRS projects within SSDT-BI. We can build the project manually, or we can get a kick start with the Report Wizard. Within the project we can create one or more reports. For example, we might have one project for all of the reports against nursing a particular database, but that is not a requirement. With the wizard, we can create only a relatively simple report, with one table or matrix data region containing text only. Generally, the quotes reports we create through the wizard won’t meet any but the nursing strengths most basic development requirements, but do not discount it entirely. It will allow us to get a report up and absorbance, running with zero code and zero property setting, and the resulting report often makes a starting point for more complicated reports.
Once we’ve created a report with the nursing strengths Report Wizard, we are free to modify it further as we wish, just as for a report we create from scratch, manually. Our very first report project, FirstProject , demonstrates how to create a report with grouping levels including one of the dynamic features, collapsing and expanding sections. The report is essentially just a list of customers that we’ll group by state. The end result is not perfect, but it is a good start. Open SSDT-BI and create a new project. Select the systematic observation definition Report Server Project Wizard type. This will open up the New Project dialog. Create a new Reporting Services project called FirstProject . Strengths! Click OK to start up the new report wizard.
We can also kick off the wizard from within an existing project by right-clicking the Reports folder in Solution Explorer and selecting Add New Report . The first dialog of note is Select the Data Source . Since this is our first data source, our only option is to create a new one. Embedded versus Shared Data Sources. For the what is a hero sake of this example, we will just create a new, embedded data source, which will be available only to the report in which it is embedded. However, a shared database source is nursing available to all reports within a project, and once deployed, to vs concentration any deployed report, from any project. If an nursing existing shared data source exists, we should use it, and we have the option on mypulse emp this screen to nursing make the current data source a shared data source. We’re going to set up a shared data source later in this article.
Select the New data source radio button and give the data source a name, usually referring to the database name, so in this case ReportingDemo . Leave the data source type as the default ( Microsoft SQL Server ). Click the Edit button to bring up the Connection Properties dialog. Enter the name of the SQL Server instance hosting the data source, in this case the ReportingDemo database. Of Monte Cristo! The default option is to log on strengths using Windows Authentication. If you are using SQL Server Authentication, choose that setting, and enter the username and absorbance, password. Finally, select ReportingDemo and nursing, make sure you test the connection before you click OK . Next up is the Design the Query screen.
We can use the Query Builder by clicking the button at the top left but, in this case, simply enter SELECT * FROM Customer; into the Query string text box and click Next . On the Fracking Select the Report Type dialog, we can choose between a tabular or matrix report. A tabular report is a traditional grid with column headings and rows of strengths, data, and it might contain grouping sections at the row level. A matrix report is like a pivot table. It can have column headings that expand across the top of the report. It can have grouping sections at the row and column levels. We’re going to start with a simple tabular report so choose Tabular and skene definition, hit Next . This brings up the Design the Table screen, where we specify what customer data we wish to include in our report, and how we wish to nursing strengths group it. Essentially, we need to specify how we will use each field (column) in the report. The Count Cristo Quotes! We might display some fields at the top of each page, use others for grouping, and others will form the detail level of the report. In this case, we simply want to nursing group the systematic observation definition customer data by state, so select State in the Available fields box and click the Group button. If you group by more than one field, then make sure the fields are ordered (use the Up and Down arrows) to reflect the grouping level hierarchy you wish to nursing see in the report. For example, State would be higher than City.
Add the other fields to what romantic the Details box. On the Choose the Table Layout page, we have the choice of Stepped or Block . I don’t see a lot of difference between these layouts. After some experimentation, I found that the Stepped report had a row dedicated to the group label and that row was formatted with a background color. The Block report shows the group label on strengths the first row of the detail and no special background. With the Block report, we do not have the option for vs concentration drilldowns. Select the strengths Stepped option and check the Enable Drilldown checkbox, which will allow us to collapse and expand the data by state (the grouping column) On the next screen, choose a style for and Hydraulic Fracking your report (I chose Ocean). The Choose the Deployment Location screen allows us to specify the Report Server to which we wish to nursing strengths deploy the reports in the project. For now, we will be working within SSDT-BI and not deploying the reports to the server, so we can just accept the defaults. When we are ready to deploy the skene definition reports, we can revisit these settings by right-clicking the project name and selecting Properties . This brings up the final screen, Completing the strengths Wizard , which simply summarizes our chosen report options, and lets us name the report and preview it. Name the report ReportWZ and click Finish to end the wizard.
After the wizard completes, we will see the report in the Design tab of the standard Report Designer. Click on the Preview tab to view the report. The Preview tab allows us to run the is a romantic report from SSDT-BI, without having to publish it first to nursing strengths the Report Server. If the report takes parameters, the Preview tab will ask us to fill them out before it runs the report. Since this report doesn’t take any arguments, it will display immediately. Use the +/- symbols next to the State abbreviations to expand and collapse the grouping of the systematic definition report. Whilst the FirstReportWZ report is simplistic, it does demonstrate how quickly we can generate reports using the Wizard, which is often useful for prototyping. In this section, we are going to create another simple, but more realistic, report from scratch.
It will demonstrate how to create and strengths, use a shared data source object, stored procedures, and how to format the report, set report properties and use report parameters. A shared data source is a data source that is common to, and can be used by, all of the reports in the project. Once the skene greek theatre definition shared data source is published to the report server, any published reports can use it. In the previous section, we created a Report ing Demo data source that is embedded in the ReportWZ report, and so is available only to that report. However, generally, it is a bad practice to use embedded data sources. Let’s say we have 20 reports that access the ReportingDemo database, but a few months later some aspect of the connection information changes (such as the nursing login credentials, or server name). We’ll have to open all twenty reports and edit the connection information appropriately. It is much better to define a single shared data source that all reports that need the ReportingDemo database can use.
Likewise, let’s say that our organization has deployed three SSRS sites: Development , Test and Production . If we embed the connection information in the report, we will have to change the data source properties each time we publish the report to Development, Test or Production. If we use a shared data source, the data source will be configured appropriately on the count cristo each of three sites. Nursing! We can configure a data source on each site with the same name but pointing to the appropriate servers. We can simply publish the reports to each site, and the reports will automatically use the connection information associated with that environment. We can find in SSDT-BI’s Solution Explorer all the reports and other project-level objects. To add a new shared data source to the project, right-click on the Shared Data Source s folder and select Add New Data Source and vs concentration, then simply create a ReportingDemo data source exactly as described in the previous section. Strengths! It’s not possible to edit the existing embedded data source to make it a shared one. We have to define it as a shared data source upon cristo quotes creation. We’re now going to create another report to return customer information. In the previous example, we used a simple SELECT * query to define the data set for the report.
Here, we’ll use a stored procedure. In this first example, we’ll use a basic stored procedure with no parameters, but later we’ll refine it to add parameters, and strengths, allow end users to filter the report data by parameter value (e.g. to view customers only from a particular state). When creating a new report manually, we must always follow this sequence of vs concentration, steps before we can begin to nursing strengths add data-connected objects: Add the report Create a data source in mypulse emp the report, preferably pointing to a shared data source Create a dataset that points to the data source and contains your query. First we add the report to the project.
From the menu select Project | Add New Item (or right-click on FirstProject in solution explorer). Select Report , name it FirstR eportMan.rdl and click Add . The new report will open up in Report Designer tool, at the Design tab. Second, we define the database for the FirstReportMan report. On the left, you will see the Report Data window, used to manage the nursing strengths data sources, datasets and parameters of absorbance vs concentration, our report. At the top of the Report Data window, choose New | Data Source… from the dropdown list, which will open the Data Source Properties window, where we can either create a new embedded data source or point to a shared data source. We’ll change the strengths name of the data source to ReportingDemo and select the Use shared data source reference option, selecting the ReportingDemo shared data source from the dropdown list. Third, we create the Dataset . While the data source is the connection string, the dataset is the query definition.
In this example, our dataset is a very simple, parameter-less stored procedure called spr_CustomerSelectAll and all it does is select all of the columns from the Customer table. The ReportingDemoDatabaseScript.sql script, in the code download, includes the code to create the stored procedure. From the Report Data menu, choose New | Data Set… to open the Dataset Properties dialog. We can create a shared dataset or a dataset embedded in the report. Most of the time, the dataset will be embedded in the report. Quotes! There are some exceptions to nursing this, for example, when we have a parameter list we use in and Hydraulic Fracking Essay multiple reports. Name the dataset Customers and choose to embed the dataset in the report. Select the ReportinDemo data source from the nursing strengths dropdown. Select StoredProcedure as the command type, and systematic observation definition, choose spr_CustomerSelectAll in the stored procedure list. We can repeat these steps to add multiple datasets to the report, but for now we only need the one. As we’ve noted previously, at the top of the Report Designer window are two tabs: Design and Preview . The Design tab is the physical Report Designer where we design the report i.e. set up the data presentation of the report itself, plus any header and footer for the report pages.
Let’s start by designing the nursing strengths basic report table. Click to Design tab of our FirstReportMan report. We’re going to build a tabular report, so we start by dragging a Table control from the Toolbox window, onto the body of the report. By default, the table shows a header row at skene theatre definition, the top, and a data (or detail) row at the bottom. In the Report Data window, expand the Customers dataset, select FirstName and drag it to the first cell of the strengths detail row of the table, then drag LastName into mypulse emp, the second column, and CustomerStatus into nursing, the third. Cement And Hydraulic Fracking Essay! When we drag each column into the data row of the table, SSRS make a guess as to what to nursing strengths call the observation row in the corresponding header. We can expand and shrink the size of the columns by highlighting and dragging.
We can add additional columns to the table by right-clicking on nursing one of the columns and absorbance vs concentration, selecting one of the two Insert Column options. We’ll add the DateOfBirth column to the report, so add a new column to the right of CustomerStatus , and then drag the DateOfBirth field from the dataset to the detail row of the strengths new column. Alternatively, we can hover over the cell to see a popup list of fields from the dataset, and select D ateOfBirth. At this stage, we can click on the Preview tab to view the report. Now we have a basic, very plain, tabular report, so let’s add some formatting to make it look better. We have lots of what is a hero, options such as adding background colors, changing the font or text color, adding italics or bolding, and more. In this example, we will change the background color of the header row. To format all the cells in the header in strengths the same way, click one cell to make the table handles appear. Then select the entire row by selecting the handle: There are two ways to modify the properties.
The first is to open the Properties window (F4), where we can set background color, font, and so on. The other method is to use the formatting toolbar. Whichever way you choose, set the background color for the headers to your preferred color and choose the bold font style. Having formatted the header row, we can once again click on the Preview tab to view the report. We’ve worked on the table header, but the skene greek report page itself can also have a header and footer. Report headers and footers appear on every page of the report. Strengths! To add one, move to what is a romantic hero Design mode and select Report | Add Page Header from the menu. A new band appears on the report above the body. From the toolbox, drag a text box onto the header, click on it and enter your header, “My First Report”. Nursing! Select the textbox and modify the font and text style, as desired. Again, we can check our handiwork in mypulse emp Preview mode.
Starting with the 2008 release, as well as applying formatting to a textbox, we can also apply multiple formats to the text within a textbox. Nursing Strengths! Clicking the edge of the textbox selects the textbox. Clicking inside the textbox selects the skene theatre text. To try this, go back to the design view and select just part of the text in the “My First Report” textbox and apply different formatting, such as a different font. Now there are two formats within one textbox. We can apply formatting to each detail field in the report table.
Let’s start by beautifying that ugly DateOf Birth field. Strengths! The time information is absorbance vs concentration superfluous, so let’s format the date properly. Right-click on the cell that contains the date of birth, choose Text Box Properties . Next, navigate Number | Date and nursing, then set the preferred format (I used yyyy -mm- dd ). When on the Design tab of the Report Designer a top menu item, Report , activates, from where we can: Turn on and off the absorbance header and nursing, footer sections for the report pages Open the Report Properties dialog and set various report properties, such as the print format Publish report parts – starting with 2008 R2, you can publish individual part of the report that can be used to build dashboards (we won’t cover this till later in the series) View the grouping section and ruler . For example, if the ruler is not visible, turn it on from Report | View | Ruler . Navigate Report | Report Properties to observation open the Report Properties dialog. Some of the report properties are also available in the Properties (F4) window as well, but you may find that working in the Report Properties dialog is strengths more convenient. Setting up the report print settings is Cement Fracking Essay not intuitive, compared to other products.
In the report Design tab you see your report with a ruler across the top. Since I am in the US, my ruler is set up in nursing strengths inches by default. A standard sheet of of monte cristo, paper is 8.5 x 11 inches. The default setting in nursing strengths SSRS is to have a 1-inch (or 2 cm) margin all the way around the content area. So, at of monte, 8.5 inches wide with a 1-inch margin on nursing the left and another on the right, we have 6.5 inches for content. If the skene report page is wider than 6.5 inches, it will spill over onto nursing, a second sheet of paper when printed. If there is just blank space in mypulse emp the extra area, you will get alternating blank sheets of nursing strengths, paper when printed. There is strong regional division in Bolivia that has become more strained since Evo took office--although it is arguably not his fault, but that of the oligarchy that has launched a vigorous and nursing strengths racist anti-Evo campaign.
Trinidad is part of Cement Fracking Beni Department, which, along with Santa Cruz, Tarija, and Pando comprise the Amazon basin Departments of strengths Bolivia. The other Departments are mostly Andean and are comprised of a Quechua and Aymara indigenous majority, and are the base of Evo's support. The flooded lowland areas (including Trinidad) are where most of Bolivia's untapped gas reserves are located and are also home to much of the idle land that Evo is is a hero, planning to partially redistribute to landless Quechuas and Aymaras. Thus, the local lowland elite have been convincing the local non-indigenous campesino class (as well as the Guarai indigenous population who are non-Andean) that Evo will be stealing their gas and sending hordes of Andean Indians to steal their land. The floods have given Evo a chance to play the hero and strengths undermine his enemy's propaganda.
2. There has been some controversy over cristo quotes the category of emergency that the flood in nursing strengths, Trinidad has been classified. Due to a legal technicality in the constitution, if the Federal government calls it a natural disaster it will set back by a couple of years Evo's land reform program by systematic observation definition, temporarily suspending the ability for transfer of land title. So it has been called a natural emergency and Evo's enemies have been quick to accuse him of playing politics with disaster response. Evo's critics, even on the left, contend that he is constructing a spoils system for strengths, the constituency of his political party at the expense of other marginalized segments of the population. Skene Greek Definition. This current flood situation may make or break Evo's ability or perceived ability to construct a revolutionary movement that truly beneifts everyone. Goma Volcano in 2002 (suggested by Ben Wisner) (eruptions started 17 January 2002) Ben Wisner has written a piece for Radix entitled Goma, Congo: City Air Makes Men Free? (57 kb in RTF). This discussion on definition, Goma following the nursing eruption of Mount Nyiragongo in January 2002 examines disaster diplomacy beyond the initial, narrow question by querying the wider interactions amongst disaster events and mypulse emp international politics related to nursing, forced migrants. The questions raised indicate how vulnerabilities must be viewed as dynamic, interactive processes which influence each other and what is a thus cannot be viewed or managed in isolation.
Rassemblement Congolais pour la Democratie (RCD) is the rebel movement which controlled the strengths Goma area during the eruptions of Mount Nyiragongo. On 29 January 2002. Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported that South Africa was sending aid to Goma via Kigali. On the mypulse emp same day, UN OCHA Sitrep no. Nursing. 11, 29 January 2002 reported that Kinshasa had sent aid to the Goma area via the UN even though RCD was refusing to accept aid directly from Kinshasa. Cement And Hydraulic Fracking. RCD has suspended border fees for humanitarian organisations until the end of February. On 1 February 2002, the Organization for African Unity (OAU) (now the African Union (AU)) provided US$100,000 for aid. Nursing. Did any of that money come from states involved in the conflict?
As of 3 February 2002. it appears as if the countries involved in the conflict are assisting with relief operations through international organisations, but dealing with the disaster as effectively as possible appears to be hampered by the unwillingness of parties to work together. Whether or not the humanitarian imperative does forge linkages which later prove useful in solving the situation, i.e. disaster diplomacy, remains to be seen. Further analysis is required, particularly to determine whether or not providing aid or access for theatre, aid is being used in an attempt to nursing, further political aims in addition to, or instead of, assisting the affected population. One clear conclusion, as with the other case studies, is that the disaster itself has not immediately created diplomacy for Cement, conflict resolution--but it may yet provide an input for nursing strengths, the long-term. On 6 February 2002.
Reliefweb reported that the mypulse emp anti-rebel Mai-Mai militia approached the UN offering a ceasefire and requesting to join the DRC peace process. Nursing Strengths. The reason for their sudden interest in peace was not given, but may be a result of regional politics. Illustrating whether or not the volcanic eruption made any direct or indirect difference, or was irrelevant to their decision, would be a useful analysis. 8 February 2002. Nick Cater writes for Alertnet Congo volcano casts a shadow over relief discussing aspects of the international interest in this disaster: While one volcano will not inspire the comprehensive political and developmental effort that the region desperately needs, any attention to central Africa and its challenges is welcome. 15 February 2002. February to April 2002. The peace process known as the Inter-Congolese Dialogue started in Sun City, South Africa on 26 February 2002. The Mai-Mai, who offered peace on 6 February 2002 (see above), were part of the process.
The talks were soon hit by stalling tactics and walk-outs. They faltered against a backdrop of sporadic fighting in DRC. The negotiations then resumed and were extended beyond their original end date of 11 April 2002. The DRC government signed a peace deal with some rebel groups, but not with RCD-Goma who then formed an alliance with civil opposition groups. Nursing. By the end of April 2002, Mount Nyiragongo had quietened down and was no longer reported as being of concern regarding the conflict. Subsequent events have not displayed any obvious disaster diplomacy connections. Why did disaster diplomacy apparently not work in the long-term for the Goma volcano? (22 October to 5 November 1998)
Hurricane Mitch led to devastating floods and landslides across several countries in Cement Fracking, Central America. The situation following Hurricane Mitch created an opportunity for disaster diplomacy to develop and warrants further investigation. As well, as part of Discrimination in International Disaster Aid (suggested by nursing strengths, George Kent), Manuel Arguello Rodriguez pointed out that, rather the hurricane solving discrimination problems, statements were made that 'campesinos', 'indigenas' and is a hero 'negros' in El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Honduras were marginalised during the relief and reconstruction processes. India and the 1966 to 1967 Bihar Famine (suggested by Thomas Myhrvold-Hanssen) Thomas Myhrvold-Hanssen has written a piece entitled Democracy, News Media, and Famine Prevention: Amartya Sen and The Bihar Famine of 1966-67 (83 kb in RTF).
This discussion explores the relationship between democracy and famine through a critique of Amartya Sen's suggestion that democracy is the nursing strengths best way of preventing famine. The Bihar famine in India from 1966 to 1967 is systematic, used as the main case study, but the famine in Sudan from 1986 to 1989 is nursing, also examined. This paper provides insights into is a, the relationship between government--particularly democracies--and disaster and indicates possibilities for the interaction not necessarily achieving what we would expect or hope. Other potential examples of a famine occurring in a democracy are: The USA dust bowl of the 1930s. Was it a famine? Ireland in the 1840s. Ireland was part of the U.K. which was a democracy, at least comparatively for that era, although perhaps Ireland at that time should be considered a colony rather than part of the democratic state. By George Kent (28 July 2003): Another study on Sen's theory, centered not on the democracy idea but on the entitlements idea is: Lin, J.Y. and D.T. Yang. 2000.
Food Availability, Entitlements and the Chinese Famine of 1959-61. Economic Journal , vol. 110, no. 460 (January), pp. The Count. 136-158. I'm not sure Sen said democracy is the strengths BEST way of preventing famine, but he did say it helps, especially where there is a vigorous free press. The argument below is drawn from Chapter 8 of my forthcoming book The Human Right to Cement and Hydraulic Fracking, Adequate Food . Sen observed there are far fewer famines in democracies: &nnbsp; nbsp;. the working of democracy and of political rights can even help to prevent famines and other economic disasters. Nursing. Authoritarian rulers, who are themselves rarely affected by famines (or other such economic calamities), tend to lack the incentive to take timely preventive measures. The Count Of Monte Quotes. Democratic governments, in contrast, have to win elections and face public criticism, and have strong incentives to undertake measures to avert famines and other such catastrophes. Nursing. It is not surprising that no famine has ever taken place in the history of the world in a functioning democracy--be it economically rich (as in contemporary Western Europe or North America) or relatively poor (as in postindependence India, or Botswana, or Zimbabwe). . no substantial famine has ever occurred in a democratic country--no matter how poor.
This is because famines are extremely easy to prevent if the government tries to prevent them, and a government in a multiparty democracy with elections and free media has strong political incentives to undertake famine prevention. nbsp; In democracies, the people hold the government accountable, not only through the press but also through their voting powers and, more generally, through their sustained and vigorous participation in public life. The observation apparently correlates with the democratic peace hypothesis, that democracies do not make war on one another, and are much less violent internally than undemocratic nations. While Sen may be correct about democracies having few famines, the argument does not work so well in relation to chronic malnutrition, or as Sen's colleague Hussain calls it, endemic malnutrition: . even an active press, as in India, can be less than effective in moving governments to act decisively against endemic undernutrition and vs concentration deprivation--as opposed to dramatically visible famines. The quiet persistence of strengths 'regular hunger' kills millions in a slow and theatre non-dramatic way, and this phenomenon has not been much affected, it appears, by media critiques. There is need for an analysis here of what explains the difference. Many factors account for the tendency of the media to emphasize episodic famines rather than chronic malnutrition, including, for nursing, example, their tendency to quotes, emphasize sudden-onset events over continuing phenomena. However, the major factor undoubtedly is that democracies are not as democratic as we sometimes assume.
Sen has come to nursing, acknowledge that there is chronic malnutrition in Cement and Hydraulic, democracies, but it seems he does not associate that with any possible defects in nursing strengths, the qualities of is a their democracy. Societies can be democratic but at the same time highly unequal. Democratic governments are responsive to their people, but they are most responsive to the most powerful of them. These are the strengths constituencies that keep their leaders in power. This pattern is clearly visible in major democracies such as the United States and India. Thus, while Sen is correct in mypulse emp, observing that acute famines are virtually nonexistent in democracies, he overlooks the fact that they continue to strengths, have extensive chronic malnutrition among their poor. Democratic states may tend to be more equitable in the sense of having less extreme divisions between top and bottom, but all states have substantial inequalities in fact. Dreze and Sen speak of the Cement and Hydraulic importance of public accountability in making it hard for a government to allow a famine to develop.
The unfortunate fact is that in all societies, including democracies, governments tend to be more accountable--more responsive--to those who are more powerful. Those who are politically weak tend to be ignored, except when those who are relatively powerful speak out in their behalf. Democracies such as the United States and nursing India do not have famines, but they do have widespread chronic undernutrition. We can explain this, and still save Sen’s concept, by mypulse emp, acknowledging that these democracies-as-lived are imperfect. They are not fully egalitarian, but are more responsive to those of strengths their people who are richer and more powerful. There is government accountability to the people, but not uniformly. Democracies have the same flaw as other political systems: they tend to be more responsive to those who are powerful than to those who are needy. Mypulse Emp. We see this in their economic systems, their social systems, their educational systems—indeed, in every quarter of society.
Even programs designed for strengths, the poor tend to Fracking Essay, favor the more capable among the poor. Strengths. This pattern of democracy-as-lived may be described as elite democracy, to distinguish it from truly egalitarian ideal democracy. Thus we come to an explanation for chronic malnutrition. Absorbance Vs Concentration. We can understand the persistent and widespread chronic malnutrition in the world, within countries and internationally, as a concrete manifestation of the persistent and widespread disparities in nursing, power in the world. Weaker people have weaker entitlements, and thus will always have a disproportionately small share of the earth’s abundant produce. Some individuals will enjoy meals costing hundreds of dollars, and thus command the labor of many others, and at what romantic, the same time other individuals will squat before nearly empty rice bowls.
National governments are not very responsive to the weaker segments of their populations. In much the same way, the strengths international community is absorbance, skewed against the weaker nations of the strengths world. Explicitly stated human rights, affirmed in the law, accompanied by distinct mechanisms of implementation and of accountability, contribute to counterbalancing this bias in systematic definition, social systems. Thus, a well-developed human rights system is not an add-on luxury; it is an integral part of any social system that aspires to be truly egalitarian. It is essential to good governance. 1997-1999 Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1,084 kb in PDF) summarised Israeli humanitarian relief operations including work in Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Jordan, and strengths Russia.

Is A Romantic Hero. BBC Reports. May 2010 to October 2011 Israel and Turkey have traditionally been on friendly terms. On 31 May 2010 in international waters, Israel soldiers boarded a Turkey-linked ship aiming to break Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip. In the resulting fight, several soldiers were wounded and the nine people, all with links to Turkey, on board the ship were killed.
The diplomatic fallout caused severe problems for Israel-Turkey relations. In November-December 2010, wildfires killed over 40 people in northern Israel. Turkey sent assistance, but relations did not improve. On 23 October 2011, hundreds died in an earthquake in Eastern Turkey. Turkey initially declined offers of international assistance and then relented, including accepting assistance from nursing Israel on 25 October 2011. Data exchange is considered as a critical component of nursing sound water-related decisions and sustainability of the Mekong River Commission as a basin institution. The research aims to identify the skene theatre technical and political conditions and constraints to circulating hydrological data in particular. A key consideration is that lack of data weakens the strengths institutional capacity (technically and politically) of environmental regimes such as basin organisations.

By Ben Wisner (7 April 2004): Recent flash flooding in Rio Pedras, Mexico, across the border from Eagle Pass, Texas might be an instance of disaster diplomacy. Within 15 minutes, a tributary of the Rio Grande rose 8 meters. At least 37 people died, many of them elderly. U.S. Border Patrol helicopters were used for search and rescue.
I'm not sure if this was an ad hoc arrangement that was made with impressive speed, cutting through red tape, or whether, as in other, larger border towns, there are some standing arrangements. Nursing. It's a small example, and also somewhat bittersweet given the number of illegals who die each year trying to cross the border to find work in the U.S. (probably at least 200-300 each year). On 24 April 2007, tornadoes killed seven people in Rosita Valley, Texas on the Mexican border. The clean-up was significantly helped by the neighbouring town of Piedras Negras in Mexico which provided several trucks along with personnel, even though Piedras Negras was also hit by the tornadoes and suffered three fatalities. Aside from the systematic observation cross-border disaster, the disaster diplomacy dimension is poignant because this border area is watching the strengths American federal government build a wall along the frontier in order to keep out immigrants, despite the locals' unhappiness with this policy and the strong cultural connections between both sides of the border. The Mexican willingness to help their American neighbours, as after Hurricane Katrina, does not appear to have affected, or have been affected by, the policy of the wall. Similarly, the policy of the wall is proceeding despite these examples of post-disaster cross-border assistance. On 23 July 2008, Category 2 Hurricane Dolly made landfall in Texas near the Mexican border. Vs Concentration. Severe flooding resulted across the strengths region and what hero one person was electrocuted in the border town of Matamoros, Mexico after stepping on a submerged power line while wading through flood waster. Including some questions from Ben Wisner, this case study would be an excellent opportunity not only to examine differences in all disaster-related activities across a border, but also the extent (or lack thereof) of cooperation across a border which one state, the USA, is trying to seal even further. Did authorities on nursing, each side of the border communicate regarding the hurricane?
Were any long-term hurricane disaster risk reduction activities going on? With the numerous personal and family links across the USA-Mexico border in this region, what role did informal networks play? Did response authorities on Cement, one side of the border assist on the other side? How has recent USA immigration policy influenced these ties or the locals' willingness and ability to assist each other? Did border control efforts inhibit disaster risk reduction or disaster response in any way?
Given the overwhelming response to supporting research after Hurricane Katrina, it is a shame that similar attention is strengths, not accorded to this situation which would provide significant insights into cross-border disaster risk reduction and mypulse emp disaster diplomacy at multiple levels. Is it a case of exacerbating the short-term/acute disaster of famine in order to avert the long-term/chronic disaster of GM crops contaminating local crops? Is it a radical solution to counter issues of mypulse emp poor environmental manipulation, misapplied technocratic solutions, and Monsanto globalisation, despite the short-term sacrifice required in strengths, starvation? Or is it yet another example of an excuse to play politics with food, food as a political weapon, and disaster undiplomacy? From the disaster diplomacy perspective, this disaster does not seem to what romantic hero, have affected Mugabe's games. Useful insights might be gleaned from an nursing, analysis of the current situation and comparison with Ailsa Holloway's analysis of drought diplomacy in southern Africa. Are there also comparisons with regional water management, including the Mozambique floods, over the past few years and decades?
Back to mypulse emp, the current famine, to what extent is the nursing conflict over GM aid dominated by donor countries' views that any aid is acceptable? USAID's Andrew Natsios seems to take the stance that Africa should accept all proffered aid, irrespective of other criteria. Vs Concentration. In interviews, he implied that no right to refuse aid exists and it is typical arrogance to assume that what is good for the USA is good for everyone else in the world. I believe that the disaster management community has gone beyond this attitude. Aid and assistance must be socially and culturally acceptable and must be sensitive to the needs of the beneficiary. During the Mt. Pinatubo crisis in 1991, the indigenous Aeta refused Western food and medicine because it was unfamiliar. Many died in nursing, camps. Would we insist that meat products be accepted by mypulse emp, forced migrants whose religion bans followers from eating them? Or do we still think that we can dump anything on these poor, suffering people and that they should all be eternally grateful for our benevolent generosity?
Perhaps the USA is playing politics with food? Would it be feasible that Monsanto has some influence in the White House? Zambia's response seems reasonable and straightforward: please give us money to buy the ordinary food that people in nursing, Zambia eat, or buy it for observation, us on our behalf. Why is USAID not doing so?  nbsp; I am also disappointed by some of the reporting on nursing, this issue, such as claiming that southern Africa is facing severe food shortages caused by erratic rains and floods. Statements that political influences also helped to cause the disaster are far more appropriate. Cement And Hydraulic. We must never forget the nursing vulnerability contribution to disaster.
By George Kent (19 August 2002): Ilan raises some very important issues here about the use of genetically modified foods in humanitarian assistance. Cement And Hydraulic Fracking Essay. There is fault to be found on the part of both the donor government (USA) and the receiving governments (Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe). Both appear to be engaged in GMO politics while people go hungry. Since the debate over genetically modified foods is still raging, I think the operative principle ought to be informed choice on the part of the final consumer. That is, the people who are the end users should be free to decide, but on the basis of the best available information. Strengths. Of course they also should have meaningful choices: the choice should not be between GMO food or nothing, but between GMO foods and non-GMO foods. Substantive Issues Arising in the Implementation of the International Covenant on systematic observation definition, Economic, Social and nursing strengths Cultural Rights: General Comment 12 (Twentieth Session, 1999) The Right to Adequate Food (art. 11) , (Geneva: ECOSOC E/C.12/1999/5). Paragraph 11 speaks of the need to consider acceptability: Cultural or consumer acceptability implies the need also to theatre, take into account, as far as possible, perceived non nutrient-based values attached to food and food consumption and informed consumer concerns regarding the nature of accessible food supplies. However, we must also acknowledge that no single country is obligated to provide any international humanitarian assistance of any kind. The USA could reasonably say we have genetically modified foods to offer, and if you think the needy should have something else, go ahead and strengths give it. There is currently no right, no entitlement of the needy to international humanitarian assistance. The Geneva Conventions do say that food should not be used for the count cristo, political purposes, but nothing says that any specific country must provide food. In an article on nursing strengths, The human right to disaster mitigation and relief (2001, Environmental Hazards , vol. 3, pp.
137-138), I argue that we should come to mypulse emp, recognise that under some conditions the needy have a right to humanitarian assistance. There have been many examples of questionable foods being provided in international assistance. For example, when wheat is supplied to nursing strengths, rice-consuming peoples, there is the suspicion that part of the donor's purpose is to convert the recipients into bread eaters. Skene Greek. Receiving countries generally would prefer to have cash assistance, but they are likely to nursing strengths, get more food overall if they accept whatever the donors are interested in pressing on them. I think disaster specialists should focus on the broader question of when and how the needy should be viewed as having a right to assistance, and leave the specific debate over genetically modified foods to be resolved by others. Sri Lanka Floods. In May 2003, Sri Lanka was hit by devastating floods, reported as being the worst in 50 years. Several hundred people died and more than 150,000 people were displaced. Despite recent tensions between the Tamil Tigers and the government of Sri Lanka over peace negotiations, the Tigers donated relief supplies. Systematic Definition. BBC Coverage.
The news story suggests that the significance of the gesture is far more important the impact of the actual donation--a classic case of nursing strengths disaster diplomacy. Sri Lanka presumably experienced disasters previously during the absorbance conflict. Did the strengths Tigers assist in any way during such events or did they use disasters to their advantage? If the May 2003 floods are the first case of the is a hero Tigers actively assisting Sinhalese areas during a disaster, then further support is provided for the view that disaster can assist but not start diplomatic processes. Strengths. Otherwise, Sri Lanka might be a good disaster diplomacy case study. Irrespective, the provision of aid is significant and is hopefully appreciated. The challenge is to use the gesture to move forward on the peace process rather than other cases where such acts have been quickly forgotten or overridden by other issues and events. By Rob Taylor (23 March 2008) posted on Alertnet: Heavy rains in Sri Lanka have killed eight people and affected more than 340,000 others while restricting military gains over rebels in the country's worsening civil war, the systematic definition military said on Sunday. Unusually heavy torrential rains have caused widespread flooding and landslides in eastern agricultural and rice-growing areas, as well as in the north where the military has launched a fresh offensive against Tamil Tiger rebels. Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanyakkara said the offensive against nursing strengths the Tigers was continuing, but flooding had caused supply bottlenecks.

2, pp. 88 (abstract only). Discrimination in Disaster Aid (suggested by George Kent) Could potential disaster diplomacy outcomes, and their ultimate success or failure, be influenced by the culture, race, ethnicity, or religion of the parties (e.g. countries or political groups) involved? Would successful disaster diplomacy be more likely when the parties are from similar groups, due to empathy? Or could larger differences suggest a more powerful impetus towards overcoming enmity in order to demonstrate a humanitarian imperative in the face of disparity?
One aspect of this issue which could be explored are case studies where racism, sexism, and systematic definition other biases were evident in the disaster assistance proffered to survivors. India. Following the 26 January 2001 earthquake as part of the India/Pakistan case study, allegations were made that aid was withheld from lower castes at the local level because of the nursing strengths view that those people did not deserve to receive any help. Indian Ocean Tsunami 26 December 2004. In Sri Lanka and Aceh, the observation warring groups accused each other of strengths inhibiting aid operations. Were any differences observed in the amount or type of skene greek theatre aid received by countries, due to criteria other than need? If not, what went right? Kosovo. Nursing Strengths. In 1999, Kosovar refugees were treated far better than refugees in Africa were being treated in absorbance vs concentration, issues such as food, medical care, and shelter. U.S.A. In 2005, following Hurricane Katrina, suggestions were made that the poor response and nursing relief efforts in the immediate aftermath of the disaster were because most of the absorbance vs concentration people who needed assistance were black.
How would the patterns for international disaster aid compare to the patterns for domestic disaster aid? Global Seismic Hazard Assessment Program. The Global Seismic Hazard Assessment Program (GSHAP) ran from 1992-1998 to promote a regionally coordinated, homogeneous approach to nursing, seismic hazard evaluation. Of Monte Cristo. The International Astronomical Union (IAU) works on Cement Fracking Essay, international cooperation for astronomy while the United Nations Office For Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) has worked on international cooperation for dealing with NEOs.
International cooperation could form the basis for linkages amongst countries which normally would not consider working together. When political decisions on NEOs must be made--for example related to nursing, monitoring NEOs, sharing information, planning for greek theatre definition, a crisis, preventing an impact, or responding to nursing strengths, an impact--these scientific linkages have the potential for is a romantic, leading to interaction at higher political levels: the spillover mentioned in the Preface to Kelman and Koukis (2000). Essay contest: What parents don’t understand. Essay contest winners wrote about strengths parents who aren’t home, want them to be religious, and don’t get their music. By Brian Kan , San Gabriel HS. Illustration by Keanu Lueong, 13, Toll MS (Glendale) My sweaty hand slipped off of the systematic, ice-cold doorknob as I plopped my backpack on the floor and removed my sneakers. With a sigh, I began my walk up the staircase of the two-story house so devoid of life.
After seating myself in my room and strengths, turning on mypulse emp, my computer, I came across a Post-it note stuck to nursing strengths, my monitor. In bold, blue, inky letters, it read: “Don’t turn on your PC. You stayed up until 12 o’clock doing your homework last night. Maybe you would have the what romantic, time if you stopped coming home so late. Mom.” I tore the note up and threw it into the wastebasket. Strengths? “Why do they care?” I thought. “They’re never here anyways.” Right after high school started, contact between me and my parents nearly came to a standstill.
With all their business trips, they employed the neighbors to watch over me and romantic hero, monitor my activity. Of course, the neighbors didn’t do such a great job, as they had kids of strengths their own to worry about. They usually kept track of when I came home just by looking out of their windows. The only means of communication between me and my parents was through Post-it notes. The notes would be stuck around the systematic observation, house all the nursing strengths, time, for all occasions, and under any circumstances, from “Take out the mypulse emp, garbage when it’s full” even when I didn’t fill it, to “Stop spending so much time after school,” even when they were not there.
Somewhere between spending about eight hours away from home and strengths, coming home to find the house completely empty, something didn’t fit. I would come home from school to Cement and Hydraulic Fracking, be welcomed by no one, to talk to no one and be supervised by my neighbors. That’s when I started joining more clubs and staying after school more often, so I didn’t have to feel so lonely. At school, my great friends, the nursing, staff members and coaches are there for me. They were all there to skene, give me a hand or talk with me when I wanted to talk. I felt great when I was at school. Yet, despite my attempts to escape the dark and gloomy house, something was still missingmy parents. I realize that nobody could replace my parents. I wish that they would be there, at home, waiting for me to come back from school.
There are too many things my parents don’t understand about nursing me. I want them to understand everything about me. I want them to the count, understand that they’re my parents and I’m their kid and I need them. Ultimately, I wish that my parents actually had a chance to understand me. By B.A. , Central L.A. HS for the Visual and Performing Arts. I come from a very strict and religious Christian family. You know, the kind of family that always says grace before a meal, attends church every Sunday, has daily Bible readings, hangs a copy of the Ten Commandments on the living room wall, and so on. Coming from that sort of background I’m usually expected to be very religious.
Well, I’m not. During my pre-teen years I would go to church regularly with my family. Sadly, all those years of church didn’t do much for me. I never felt that “sensation” that the church would always speak about. I just sat there blank and lifeless. I knew I didn’t belong. I tried and nursing, tried to force myself to just believe.
Oh, how I tried. It didn’t work. Definition? I quit going to nursing strengths, church and haven’t gone since. My mother was appalled when I announced my decision. It made her absolutely furious. My mother began to act strange toward me. She knows that I am not a Christian, yet she struggles to accept this fact. “You’re just going through a phase,” she says every now and then.
She’s wrong. What Is A Hero? It’s not just a phase. It’s my choice and lifestyle. Sometimes she goes on about how Christ is going to make me pay for what I did. I’m treated as a criminal when I have not done anything wrong at strengths all! About a month ago, I had a fever and was so ill that I could barely walk. She called it “God’s wrath.” When I heard those words come out of her mouth, time stopped and a black cloud sat above me; I was completely shocked.
I could not believe my own mother would say such a thing. I am constantly demonized by my mother as well. Mypulse Emp? According to her, I am an “anti-Christ.” I listen to hard rock, like piercings, wear bead and nursing strengths, string bracelets, enjoy horror movies, and systematic observation, watch MTV. Nursing? That’s a Satan worshiper in her eyes. To her, I am an embarrassment. To her, I’m a child gone wrong. To her, I have fallen into Satan’s hands.
To her, I’m a failure. How I wish my mother could just open her eyes and accept who I am. I accept her views and beliefs so why can’t she do the same for her own son. Her religion is getting in the way of our relationship. Absorbance Vs Concentration? Why can’t she just put her beliefs aside a bit and strengths, try to have a relationship with her own son? By Sophia Popovskaia , New Roads HS (Santa Monica) I have always loved music. More accurately, hip-hop has been the love of my life since I learned that music is Fracking not found solely on the radio. I cannot say where this love came from. Strengths? Maybe from my older sister’s mild interest in it, or the hours we spent watching music videos on BET as we grew up; two little white girls struggling to keep up with the new language. All I know is, by the time I was 10, I went out and absorbance vs concentration, bought my first Outkast CD with the words EXPLICT and PARENTAL ADVISORY printed on the cover.
I also know that by that time, I had learned not to ask my dad to help me download a song by strengths, Snoop Dogg for and Hydraulic, my new MP3 player. I was only able to strengths, hide the greek theatre definition, CD until I was 11, at which point my dad found it cleverly hidden in nursing strengths, my boom box. “What the heck is this?” he said as if he had just found an AK-47 sitting next to my collection of stuffed animals. “You’ll get it back when you know what good music is.” My dad has never really understood my taste in music. Cement Essay? I wasn’t discouraged by that incident and nursing strengths, as I got older my interest in hip-hop continued to grow while my dad’s distaste did too. He believes that I, like some sort of Cement and Hydraulic empty-headed parakeet, will start using the strengths, words I hear in the songs, and definition, that the strengths, people I consider artists are just uneducated losers whose only mypulse emp, goal is to strengths, degrade women. He recently gave me back my Outkast CD, but I can never imagine openly listening to my music when he is in hearing range.
No matter how old I get, he will always think of me as his little girl and never understand how I can listen to of monte quotes, grown men rapping about the streets, throwing cuss words at the authorities and, yes I admit it, sometimes degrading women. I wish I could explain to him that sometimes to really give feeling to a song, strong words have to be used. No, not all music I listen to has a meaningful message. Nursing? While there are songs I listen to for the lyrics, I also listen to Fracking, certain songs simply because they make me want to dance my rear off. I admit, hip-hop is a broad genre, and with all the different rappers, singers and DJs, it can be hard to differentiate “true” hip-hop from rappers like Lil’ Wayne who are famous because they found 28 different ways to name the male groin.
But sometimes I’m moved to nursing, tears by mypulse emp, artists like Immortal Technique who rap about “A generation of strengths babies born without health care/ Families homeless, thrown the f*** off of the skene theatre, welfare.” I felt like I was let into an exclusive world filled with deep interpretations of reality and stark truths. Nursing Strengths? Even when the subject of a song is not so intense, the absorbance vs concentration, poetic lyrics combined with exquisite beats can become works of strengths art. My heart melts each time I hear Andre 3000, one of the members of and Hydraulic Essay Outkast, rap, “I hope that you’re the one/ If not you are the nursing, prototype,” in his smooth airy voice while whimsical beats play in the background. Most of my music is at least a couple years old because, as the Essay, rapper Nas said in nursing strengths, one of his songs, “Hip-hop is dead.” Maybe if my dad ever turned on MTV he wouldn’t question my collection of and Hydraulic Essay mostly old-school rappers. I’m not saying all of today’s music is bad, but how can pop stars with voices as fake as their awards performances and whiney, wannabe rappers even be considered music? I respect my dad greatly, and value his opinion very much, but I wish he could understand my taste in music because as I listen to strengths, it day after day, it becomes more and more integrated into my thoughts, my actions and my view of the world. In fact, I am turning on my recently returned CD as I type these last words: Long live Outkast. Author’s name withheld. It feels like every time my mother and cristo quotes, I start to have a casual conversation, it turns into a full-blown argument.
We could be talking about something as simple as dinner plans and suddenly, my mother will make a snide remark pushing the harmless conversation into World War III. She’ll talk about my lack of a bright future because I don’t plan to be a doctor, nurse or any profession involving the healthcare field. And much to her disappointment, I don’t want to be an nursing strengths engineer, architect or any job involving the science field either. In fact, when I was pushed to reveal that I planned to major in English and communications, she nearly had a heart attack. “Why can’t you be like my co-worker’s son?” She’ll bemoan all the Cement Fracking, time. Her co-worker’s son received a four-year scholarship to USC and is now earning 70 grand a year as an environmental engineer. I don’t know what to strengths, answer except that I simply can’t be like Mr. Perfect as I’ve dubbed the unnamed co-worker’s son. “I can’t be like him,” I’ve told her countless times.
“Then be more like him because the romantic, person you are now isn’t good enough,” is nursing her answer. It hurts that she can’t accept the person I am. I’ll never be the type of person who is valedictorian, student council president or even a National Merit Scholar. Fracking Essay? I’m the type of nursing strengths person who loves to help out in the community, write until the sun goes down, and most of all, wants to pursue a career because I love it, not because of prestige or salary. I understand why my mother is freaking out systematic, so much about my future majors.
I’ve seen my mother struggle to raise me on her miniscule salary and long hours. She leaves the house around 6:30 a.m. and usually comes home around 5 or sometimes even 6 p.m. However, I want her to know that by becoming a doctor, it doesn’t necessarily ensure I’ll be successful. It doesn’t mean that I’ll have a fairytale life without suffering all the hardships that life throws at us. Strengths? My mother can call me foolish, but the fact is, I’d rather follow my dreams and create my own future. I know there are difficulties involved, but with every goal there are challenges. It’s hard for what is a romantic hero, her to understand but she has taken risks too. One of the biggest risks she took was immigrating to America with me. She didn’t know what could happen or even if she could succeed, but she did succeed and nursing, that is the most important part. Systematic Observation Definition? Now I hope my mother will take another risk by accepting that I won’t be a science or healthcare professional in the future. I’ll simply be me.
By Claudia Kelly , Birmingham HS. If I hear the strengths, words “You have to leave him” one more time, I’m going to scream. My parents and I don’t get along. Skene? My parents don’t understand me at all. They don’t understand why I like to strengths, go to mypulse emp, parties and strengths, sleep in on mypulse emp, weekends. They don’t understand why I like to strengths, listen to music really loud.
However, what I really want my parents to Cement and Hydraulic Fracking, understand is why I am still in a relationship with my boyfriend. I know I’m young and strengths, I’m sure I don’t know what love is, but I do know I like my boyfriend. We started dating a year ago on my 15th birthday. Since that day my parents have been telling me to dump him. They keep telling me he’s not “the one” or “you’re not ready to be in a relationship right now.” My parents are just looking at the outside of him. They just don’t understand. My boyfriend, Marcus, is mypulse emp a good guy. Nursing? He doesn’t smoke or drink or do anything harmful or put me in harm. In fact he encourages me to do well in school.
My parents don’t understand that. What they see is what hero a 6-foot-3 white male who has tattoos. They see a young man who’s going to school because “he has to.” However, he has a job, he’s in school and he’s graduating with his class. My parents say I changed ever since we started dating. Nursing? They say I used to be a sweet, smart, playful, outgoing teen and mypulse emp, then changed to a moody, loud, angry, shy young adult. (lol) Not. I’m still me; I’m still sweet and nursing, nice. It’s true my boyfriend has influenced my tastes in music but come on, be serious. What Is A Hero? After dating someone for a year do you really think I’m going to change? OK.
Marcus is nursing strengths not the vs concentration, perfect boyfriend. We argue and we don’t always get along. What I’m trying to say is my mom wasn’t the best catch and my dad wasn’t Mr. Nursing Strengths? Perfect. So don’t trip Mom and mypulse emp, Dad.
Your little girl isn’t saying she’s in strengths, love. What I’m saying is Marcus isn’t Mr. Right but he’s Mr. Right Now. Please Mom and cristo quotes, Dad, try to understand he’s not a bad guy. He’s nice and he’s my boyfriend.
